CuteFTP

CuteFTP is a Windowså-based FTP application produced by GlobalScape, Inc. that enables you to transfer files to and from your Web server. You can purchase and download CuteFTP from www.cuteftp.com.

These instructions apply to CuteFTP 4.0. If you are using a different version, consult the product documentation for detailed instructions.

To configure and use CuteFTP:

  1. Launch CuteFTP. The FTP Connection Wizard opens.
  2. Select your ISP from the list of Internet Service Providers. If yours is not listed, select Other. Then, click Next.
  3. Enter a descriptive label for your site. This is for identification purposes only. Then, click Next.
  4. Enter your FTP host address. This is your domain name without the www prefix. For example:

    sampledomain.com

    Then, click Next.

If it has been less than 72 hours since you set up your account, you may need to use your temporary URL instead of your domain name. You can find this by logging into SiteEasy.

  5. Enter your user name. This is your Master User name or the user name for the FTP account created for you in SiteEasy.
  6. Enter your password. Then, click Next to continue.
  7. In the Default Local Folder field, enter the full path to the folder on your computer from which you will be transferring your Web site files. Then, click Next.
  8. Click Finish. Once CuteFTP establishes a connection to your Web server, the main window displays your local files and the files in your /home directory.

You use the main window to transfer your files to and from your Web server. The main window contains four different panes:
