Using PHP
PHP, also known as PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, is an open-source scripting language and interpreter. It is used primarily on UNIX Web servers and is an alternative to Microsoft Active Server Page (ASP) technology.
At EasyHost, PHP is run as a CGI binary. You may be familiar with PHP as an Apache module. EasyHost does not, however, run PHP as an Apache module on our shared servers. EasyHost supports "mod_php" only on dedicated, unmanaged Linux servers. Each PHP-enabled domain has its own separate PHP environment that you can control.
EasyHost's Linux shared servers and Advantage line of dedicated servers include a PEAR (PHP Extension and Application Repository) installation. You can use PEAR packages by including the line:
include_path = "/usr/local/php/share/pear
in your php.ini file. The PEAR manual, available at http://pear.php.net/manual/en/, provides more information on working with PEAR.PHP also provides support for accessing several databases, including MySQL and mSQL. EasyHost's UNIX Gold Plus plans and above provide support for PHP. You can order PHP support for your domain using SiteEasy's Plan Info module. For details on ordering features, see the SiteEasy User Guide.
