Using Flash files in your site

All of EasyHost's UNIX plans provide support for Macromedia Flash files. Flash is a popular format for delivering vector-based graphics and animations over the Internet.

Flash "movies" end with the extension .swf. To add a Flash movie to your site, upload the .swf file to the Web server in binary mode. You can place it in your /www directory or in a subdirectory you created.

In order for your site's visitors to play a Flash movie, the Macromedia Flash Player must be installed on their computer. Most browsers, however, come installed with Macromedia Flash Player. The Flash Player can be downloaded at no cost from the Macromedia Flash Download Center. Visit www.macromedia.com for details.

There are a number of ways you can link to your Flash movies in your Web site. For example, you can use a standard link or provide a button or image that launches the movie. You can also set the Flash movie to open in a new browser window.

For detailed information about incorporating Flash files into your Web site, consult the Flash documentation or visit Macromedia's support center at http://www.macromedia.com/support/.
